Speaker delay alignment
Estimate the delay to add to the nearer speaker so its sound reaches a listening point with the farther speaker. Enter both acoustic path lengths and air temperature; inspect the distance difference and estimated sound speed.

How it works
- Path length difference = −
- Delay to add to near speaker = Path length difference ÷ Estimated sound speed × 1,000
- Worked example
- (12 − 2) ÷ (331.3 × √(293.15 ÷ 273.15)) × 1,000 ≈ 29.14 ms

Assumptions and limitations
Uses a dry-air ideal-gas approximation: 331.3 × √((273.15 + °C)/273.15) m/s. Humidity, wind, reflections, speaker phase and DSP latency are excluded. Distances are measured to one listening point; verify the final alignment with acoustic measurements.
