How it works
- B = (Average video bitrate + Average audio bitrate) × Duration in seconds /8 × (1+Container overhead (%)/100); ← Average video bitrate = B×8/Duration in seconds/(1+Container overhead (%)/100)−Average audio bitrate
- Worked example: (10+0.2)×1000000×600/8 = 765000000 B = 765 MB
- Supported input limits: Duration in seconds: 1e-12 ≤ x ≤ 1000000000000; Average video bitrate: 0 ≤ x ≤ 1000000000000; Average audio bitrate: 0 ≤ x ≤ 1000000000000; Container overhead (%): 0 ≤ x ≤ 1000; Target size in bytes: 0 ≤ x ≤ 1000000000000
Assumptions and limitations
Decimal SI prefixes use powers of 1000; binary IEC prefixes use 1024. One byte is eight bits. Transfer estimates assume constant throughput; video uses average bitrates and explicit overhead. Screen calculations assume square pixels. Printing preserves aspect ratio through fit or crop; image PPI is distinct from printer DPI. Exact storage ratios are retained; nonterminating decimal displays round to twelve places.
