URL component encoder and decoder
Percent-encode a query value or decode an encoded URL component. Inspect the result before using it in a link or API request. This tool transforms text locally and does not open or fetch the address.
Free to use. No email or account required.

How it works
- Encode a value once, then insert it into the appropriate URL component. Decoding reverses one encoding layer. Applying encoding twice also encodes the percent signs.
- Worked example
- a b&c → a%20b%26c
Assumptions and limitations
Uses encodeURIComponent/decodeURIComponent with UTF-8 semantics. This is component encoding, not whole-URL normalization. A plus sign remains plus when decoding; form-urlencoded conversion is different. Malformed escapes or invalid UTF-8 are rejected. Limit: 200,000 UTF-16 code units; decoding does not establish link safety.

Processing and privacy
The calculation or transformation runs in your browser. The tool does not send its input values or generated output to an application server. Loading a page still makes infrastructure requests; optional analytics and Google consent messages have separate controls.
