Base64 text encoder and decoder
Convert Unicode text to standard Base64 or decode Base64 back to UTF-8 text. Useful for inspecting textual payloads in development. Copy or download the transformed text; all processing stays in the browser.
Free to use. No email or account required.

How it works
- Encoding converts text to UTF-8 bytes, then groups bytes into Base64 characters. Decoding validates the standard alphabet and round-trip padding before decoding UTF-8 strictly.
- Worked example
- Hello → SGVsbG8=
Assumptions and limitations
Base64 is encoding, not encryption. Uses the standard +/ alphabet with canonical = padding; URL-safe Base64, whitespace and binary file decoding are outside scope. Invalid padding, noncanonical unused bits and non-UTF-8 decoded bytes are rejected. Limit: 200,000 input code units.
How to use this tool
Choose encode or decode and enter UTF-8 text or canonical Base64. Generate, inspect and copy the output. Invalid padding or decoded non-UTF-8 bytes are rejected.
When this is useful
Inspect text payloads or verify an encode/decode round trip. Base64 is reversible encoding, not encryption; do not use it to conceal a password or secret.
