How it works
- Scientific notation: a × 10^e, 1 ≤ abs(a) < 10; Engineering notation: e ∈ 3ℤ; Settlement rounding: 0.5 → 1; abs(e) ≤ 300
- Worked example: 12345 = 1.2345 × 10^4 = 12.345 × 10^3; 9.995 ⇒ 1.00 × 10^1 (3 Significant figures)
- Supported input limits: Decimal string (decimal point, optional e exponent): n ≤ 1024; Significant figures: 1 ≤ x ≤ 15
Assumptions and limitations
Choose the mode and enter only its required values. Division by zero is rejected or shown as undefined. Integer bases and fractions retain exact integer arithmetic; rounded decimal displays do not replace it. List statistics describe the supplied observations only; weighted mode changes the mean, not the order statistics.
