How it works

  • Percentage change = (New value − Original value) ÷ abs(Original value) × 100; Symmetric percentage difference = abs(New value − Original value) ÷ ((New value + Original value) ÷ 2) × 100; Symmetric percentage difference: Original value,New value ≥ 0
  • Worked example: 80 → 100 = +25%; 100 → 80 = −20%; −80 → −60 = +25%
  • Supported input limits: Original value: -1000000000000 ≤ x ≤ 1000000000000; New value: -1000000000000 ≤ x ≤ 1000000000000

Assumptions and limitations

Choose the mode and enter only its required values. Division by zero is rejected or shown as undefined. Integer bases and fractions retain exact integer arithmetic; rounded decimal displays do not replace it. List statistics describe the supplied observations only; weighted mode changes the mean, not the order statistics.
