EV charging time and cost
Plan a charging session using usable battery capacity, initial and target charge, average wall power, efficiency and your tariff. See battery energy, electricity drawn and energy-only cost separately.

Your inputs
The editable example is illustrative. Enter your own dimensions, operating data, prices, and fees. Results update as you edit.
Calculations run in your browser. Inputs are not saved or sent to analytics.
How it works
- Energy added to battery = × ( − ) ÷ 100
- Energy drawn from wall = Energy added to battery ÷ ( ÷ 100)
- Estimated charging time = Energy drawn from wall ÷
- Energy cost = Energy drawn from wall ×
- Worked example
- 60 × (80 − 20) ÷ 100 = 36 kWh; 36 ÷ 0.9 ÷ 7 ≈ 5.714286 h

Assumptions and limitations
Use average power from the wall, not the charger’s peak battery-side rating. Power is assumed constant; taper, cold batteries and vehicle limits can extend the session. Efficiency is applied once to energy and time. Connection fees, idle fees and installation costs are excluded.
