Sphere volume and surface area
Calculate a sphere’s enclosed volume, surface area and diameter from one radius. Use it for geometry or comparing spherical objects. Volume measures the space inside; surface area measures the outside skin.

Your inputs
The editable example is illustrative. Enter your own dimensions, operating data, prices, and fees. Results update as you edit.
Calculations run in your browser. Inputs are not saved or sent to analytics.
How it works
- Volume = 4 × π × ³ ÷ 3
- Surface area = 4 × π × ²
- Worked example
- r = 3 m → 36π m³; 36π m²

Assumptions and limitations
Radius is in metres, volume in cubic metres and area in square metres. The object is a perfect solid sphere; wall thickness, flattened shapes and partially filled vessels are excluded. For a hollow vessel, use its internal radius to estimate capacity.
