Slope, grade and rise/run
Convert rise and run, percentage grade or angle, and calculate the inclined length. Drag the graph handles to change inputs and explore the result.
Your inputs
Values shown are editable examples; verify your own measurements and product specifications. Results update as you edit.
Calculations run in your browser. Inputs are not saved or sent to analytics.
How it works
- = / × 100; = atan( / ) × 180 / π; Inclined length = √(² + ²)
- Worked example: 1 m / 10 m ⇒ 10%, 5.71059314°, 10.04987562 m

Assumptions and limitations
Run is the positive horizontal distance, not the inclined distance. Negative rise, grade or angle describes descent. Use metres for both lengths. Angle input is limited to ±89.999°; vertical slopes and zero run are excluded. Grade is rise/run × 100, so 100% is 45°, not 90°. This is straight-line geometry, without terrain, material, accessibility or building-code compliance assessment.
