Torque wrench extension correction

Adjust the wrench setting for an adapter that changes the effective lever length. Drag the graph handles to change inputs and explore the result.

Your inputs

Example values are editable. Use your measurements and product specifications. Results update as you edit.

≥ 0.000000000001
Torque unit
≥ 0.000000000001 mm
≥ 0 mm
0–180 °

How it works

  • C = × cos(); Leffective = + C
  • Tsetting = × / ( + × cos())

Assumptions and limitations

Measure effective wrench length using its manufacturer’s handle reference, and adapter length between drive and fastener centers. Angle is 0° outward, 90° perpendicular and 180° inward. Assumes a straight wrench and force perpendicular to its handle; flex-head geometry is excluded. Units stay unchanged. 110 N·m, 408 mm and 28 mm at 0° give 102.936 N·m.
